Pure Energy Fair. ( Benefit ) Westleton. Suffolk. 17-19th Sept 1982. |
1982.
A Poster of the Pure Energy Fair -a lovely event. We organised the stage and bands to help the east Anglian anti-nuclear alliances campaign to protest at the building of Sizewell B and demand better safety mechanisms be put in place in the design of the reactor. The site was a few miles from the planned plutonium water cooled nuclear reactor- the same type as on three mile island. The
peace convoy set up a peace camp on the beach and various peace campaigners
came back on site glowing with tales of swimming over the outlet pipe
from the power station saying it was like having a bath.!!! Talking
of hot water we had the luxury of hot showers on site and communal nude
hippie showers were much appreciated by the dusty travellers. Some of
the best food on site came from the absolutely divine Hari Krishna's. This
was our Indian summer celebration of a special year. |

We are proud of the contribution we have made to Andy Worthington's sociological history of Stonehenge and the free festival scene in the UK .This new book gives a fascinating insight into the various counter cultural obsessions with the Stones and provides a variety of new perspectives to many of the key events surrounding the Henge such as the Battle Of The Beanfield and the more recent attempts hold a celebration at the Stones during the Solstice.

Sending details of a small book I've just self-published which might be of interest to some readers of your admirable site.
I have featured the book and its contents on one of my blogs too:
