Northern Carnival Against Cruise Missiles. Saturday 8th August 1981. The Damned , John Cooper Clarke, Harlem Spirit, Chris Sievey and The Freshies. ( Hawkwind and Ronnie Laine were a no-show )

In 1981 Chris Hewitt was back building a festival stage in the same park for the Carnival Against Cruise Missiles on the same site .The Damned , John Cooper Clarke, Harlem Spirit, Chris Sievey and The Freshies performed to a similarly sized large crowd of around 35,000.
