Gong.
Victoria Hall, Hanley, Stoke On Trent. April 15th 1975
One of our most prolific contributors, Steve Austin, dipped into his ganderbag and whipped out these exclusive photos of Gong from 1975. Although not of the highest quality, they nevertheless do give a good indication of what Gong looked like onstage during this period, which saw the band play at a number of free festivals on the UK, most notably Hyde Park and Watchfield, both very different sorts of festival.
Lead guitarist Steve Hillage, who contributed many compositions to the Gong repertoire during this era, also played at a number of alternative festivals later on in the decade- such as Glastonbury 79 and Deeply Vale .
