Pt1
Only the strange remain.....
'doo-doo-doo-doo
doo-doo doo-doo doo

doo-doo'

The refrain of Ollin Arrageed sang through my ears and into my soul the entire time in Egypt...

first heard at soundcheck...1am on 9.14

maybe 30 folks there...standing around in desert air...waiting some 5 hours...there had to be a check right?!

    and there was...

    we were there...

world premiere of so perfect little tune that the band played just 4 times...9.16 and then never again...

    you had to be there!

thank god for Ken and the pre walkman walkman!

    so...

    where does Egypt begin?

i guess Ken Kesey and those mysteries of the pyramids intrepid ramblings for Rolling Stone Magazine in '75...

    Blues For Allah...'75

    the seeds were sown

i connected to the winds of what was to be via a map of the world on wall of kitchen in Kentish Town north London bedsitter...

been there 8 months, following 18 months amazing trip thru Pacific Islands and South America

now in London...well placed to respond, follow the call...

    call there was...

    flashing red arrow call...

there it was...flashing from London to Cairo...telling me i had to go!

    the rumor was out...

mention in english music paper Melody Maker...about possible GD tour
    to Egypt...

    nothing sure, nothing confirmed...

we raced to Egyptian Embassy in London...

that sort of confirmed the rumor...

yes, an ' american ballet' was scheduled to play at the pyramids...

    the dates?...9.14, 15, 16

quick...we put passports in for visa!

    takes 3 days!

new edition of Melody Maker tells of Rainbow Theatre GD gigs...we get there 3am sunday morning(it's bloody cold!) and find ourselves first in line to buy tickets (nobody else shows 'til 6am...ha!)

we get great seats for all 4 nights...

    even front row!

we hastened to buy airline tickets...Egypt was only one week away

we found cut price airline ticket bucket shop...up dark dingy staircase and so pokie office...Greek manager saying :"Yes, i can help you"...

oh god, were the tickets genuine?...Egypt via Athens

morning of flight...take underground to Heathrow...or was it Gatwick?

    on the bus...smiles a beaming...

    the adventure starts here!
